“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit[a] and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended.” Revelations 20:1-3
I watched a sermon from Pastor Jim Raley today. He pointed out that in the end the devil is sent to hell by an angel. Not an Archangel, not an army…. ONE single angel. We give the devil way too much credit. Why are we afraid of a being that is defeated by one angel? He wasn’t even worth sending a couple back up troops just in case. I believe in the end when we see who was tormenting us all this time we are going to say, “That’s it? That is what I was allowing to instill fear in me?”
The Bible says the demons shudder just from thinking about God. The enemy’s time is short. The Bible says not to fear 365 times. One for each day. We don’t have to be afraid if Jesus lives in us. I just read last night in Joshua 24:45 “Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” And His promises will NEVER fail. God promised us protection. We have the creator of the universe on our side. He sends angel armies to help us. Devils flee when we proclaim the name of Jesus and He has promised freedom to those who follow Him. “Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” Jesus died so that we may have freedom (peace), abundant life, and healing NOW.
We still have to accept these gifts, but they are ours. We don’t have to earn them. They are ours because He loves us. That guilt, shame or feeling of unworthiness is NOT from God. It is another lie from that tiny little devil to prevent you from receiving that complete freedom in Christ. God gives us a spirit of love, power and a sound mind. Let Jesus into your life and let Him guide you. I promise the outcome will fill that emptiness inside you. Nothing else will fill it. Believe me, I tried to fill that void with anything and everything before I decided to follow Jesus. but He is the only thing that has ever given me true peace; lasting peace.
My life is pretty restrictive compared to the world. I barely watch TV, I don’t really listen to any music except worship music, I read Bible studies and biblical fiction, I don’t drink, and I do my best to avoid gossip and slander. There are few people I have things in common with because of the life I choose to live.
By the world’s standards I am super boring, but look….. I have never been more free.
